Tonya Weakley, owner of Peddlers Den, is a well known scenic stamper and instructor. In 2018 she decided there was a shortage of scenic stamps, and the Makin’ A Scene collection was born. Formerly a co-owner of an art gallery and a children’s drawing instructor, Tonya had a clear vision as to what she hoped to create. It was her goal to create images that were new and fresh, but would interface well with images from other popular scenic stamping companies. By doing so, she hoped to expand the genre.
The Makin’ A Scene collection continues to grow. Its artists work year round, producing a spring and a fall release of new images. But they are more than just stamps. Scenic stampers have unique needs. Peddlers Den has a Makin’ A Scene ink line, designed for scenic stampers. They developed blending tints to enable their stampers to more easily drag and blend inks. They are currently working to develop scenic stamping tools. In spite of being a source for all things scenic, their images also work well in a traditional environment. You don’t have to mask or build scenes to enjoy them! One of our design team members uses them traditionally, with dies, embellishments, embossing, etc. Some of her creations are shown in our gallery, under the name Lesia Cook. Makin’ A Scene can be enjoyed by all stampers.
